Using WT 4.11

  • running a "DX expedition (HF+50 MHz) log"

  • export the log as ADIF

  • convert the log from ADIF to Cabrillo using BV 7.6 (in order to import it into WT since there is no ADIF import)

  • WT complains about the empty "CATEGORY:" line

  • Removing the "CATEGORY:" line, WT crashes

This can also be reproduced doing the following:

  • use a WT CQWW log

  • export as Cabrillo

  • delete all Cabrillo header lines except for "START-OF-LOG: 3.0" and "CALLSIGN: DL1AAA"

  • choose "DX expedition (HF+50 MHz) log" as the target log format -> WT crashes

  • choose "CQWW CW" as the target log format, WT omitts only the 1st QSO (why?), all other QSOs are imported fine

1/ As there is no Cabrillo specification for DXPed log (because Cabrillo is tailored ONLY for contest logs), there is NO WAY to import any DXPEd log. It's not a bug, it's a feature.

2/ The CONTEST and CATEGORY-* lines of a Cabrillo file must be present to perform a correct import. In other terms, these lines must comply with the rest of the file. You cannot miss them, and select them by yourself in the configuration dialog. It is crash/error-prone !
