The $ZONE message variable can\'t really be used in a CW message if you want to send \"cut numbers\" (abbreviations) when the rate gets fast, and then switch to \"full zone numbers\" on a noisy band like 160m.

  1. In the contest configuration window, enter zone number: 10, contest type CQ WW CW.
  2. Enter MSGS
  3. Set F2: $RST^$ZONE
  4. Set Insert: $LOGGEDCALL $QSOB4 $GUESSEXCH $F2
  5. Type PROABBREV
  6. Enter F5MZN and press [Insert]
  7. \"Bug\": Instead of sending \"5NNAT\", Win-Test sends \"5NN10\" (working as documented, but not as expected)

Similarly, if you set your zone number to \"03\", it always sends a full leading zero.

One might be tempted to put zone \"AT\" or \"T3\" in the contest configuration window, as this seems to fix the problem. But then \"AT\" or \"T3\" is put as your sent zone in the Cabrillo file, and the robot will reject it!

I think NOABBREV, PROABBREV, SEMIABBREV, FULLABBREV, NOLZ, etc. should work with the $ZONE variable exactly the same as they work with the $SERIAL variable. That way you can dynamically change it from band to band or from contact to contact without having to reprogram the CW messages.
