Task #144 — Contextual Help Does Not Work when Browser is Internet Explorer 7.0Attached to Project— Win-Test
Contextual Help DOES NOT WORK if the Default Browser is Internet Explorer 7.0.
Right-clicking in a Window and clicking on HELP, or clicking on the \"?\" in that Window, or typing ALT-H to bring up Contextual Help for that Window results in the display of the MENU_COMMANDS.HTML - regardless of the particular Window for which Contextual Help has been requested.
I was asked by Larry to see if this problem exists if the Default Browser was Mozilla Firefox. Contextual Help operates CORRECTLY if Mozilla Forefox is the Default Browser. However Contextual Help DOES NOT WORK if the Default Browser is Internet Explorer 7.0.
I would suspect most Windows-XP users also use the Default Microsoft WEB Browser.
It is vastly reported that IE7 do not currently support anchors in the local files display. There is no workaround for this :
http://browserlaunch2.sourceforge.net/problems.shtml (among others).
The only workarounds for WT is to use another bug-free browser (Firefox does it well), or use the online documentation files.
This task is suspended until the next release of an updated version of IE7.
